Consolidated product brief
Jewell Polymer Wall Putty is a white wall preparation product for interior and exterior applications. Its Low Dust Technology is designed to reduce airborne dust during pouring and mixing while maintaining application performance.
The product is suitable for new and old wall surfaces and is designed to provide smoothness, strong adhesion, water resistance, abrasion resistance and good intercoat adhesion with emulsion paints. It also resists algae and fungal growth and does not require curing.
For mixing, the supplied label specifies approximately 30-40% clean water, a mixing time of about 3-5 minutes and a pot life of approximately 3.0-3.5 hours. Application is carried out using a putty knife or trowel over a properly cleaned and pre-wetted surface.
Application & care
Pre-application surface preparation
1. Remove all loosely adhering material such as dirt, dust, grease, fungi, algae, flaking paint and oil from the surface.
2. Use emery paper, a putty blade or wire brush as required.
3. Use water jetting where required to remove remaining loose contamination.
4. Pre-wet the surface using a brush, hose-pipe spray, mug or similar method.
5. Keep the surface adequately wet during putty application.
Mixing of polymer wall putty
1. Use clean water for mixing.
2. Slowly add 1 kg of Jewell Polymer Wall Putty to approximately 30-40% clean water (about 300-400 ml water per 1 kg putty) to form a paste.
3. Add the required water gradually in small quantities; do not pour all the putty directly into water.
4. Mix preferably with a mechanical stirrer for approximately 3-5 minutes to obtain a creamy consistency.
5. Continue mixing until a uniform paste is formed.
6. Allow the mixed paste to rest for approximately 5 minutes.
7. Use the prepared paste within approximately 3.0-3.5 hours.
8. Do not apply when immediate rain is forecast.
PUtty application procedure
1. After thorough mixing, apply the first coat of Jewell Polymer Wall Putty over the pre-wetted substrate using a putty knife or trowel.
2. Spread the material uniformly to level roughness and surface imperfections.
3. Allow the first coat to dry before applying the next coat.
4. Apply a second coat where required to obtain a smoother and more uniform surface.
5. Keep the total putty thickness within the product's stated application limit.
6. After drying, smooth the surface as required before primer or topcoat application.
Topcoat application
A suitable topcoat may be applied over the primed surface according to its recommended application procedure.
Apply the topcoat only after the undercoat / prepared surface has dried adequately.
Maintain the recommended topcoat coverage and application method to achieve the desired finish.
